University history

Kyiv Slavic University - a private higher education institution member of the European Association of Universities. Founded in November 1993 with the support of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine as "Kyiv Institute" Slavic University ". For two decades, the University has continued the tradition of studying Slavic history, culture, international relations and economics.

During the existence of the University, thanks to the fruitful cooperation with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine became an educational and educational institution. According to the rating of the UNESCO Chair, our University was recognized as classical.

Above the idea of ​​creating an educational institution, scientists, state and public figures worked, and the initiative group from the very beginning of its activity actively supported the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. An important event in the history of the University's formation was the establishment in October 1992 of the public scientific and methodical bulletin "Tutor" aimed at popularizing the latest ideas of education.

On November 25, 1993, the Department of Justice in Kyiv hosted the state registration of a new private educational institution, which, after licensing, was named the Kyiv Institute "Slavic University" (KIS). Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Slovakia to Ukraine Robert Garenchar read the first lecture for students of the Faculty of Pre-University Preparation and senior pupils of Kyiv schools.

In September 1994, the school year began. In the following months, branches of the University were opened in Nikolaev and Rivne. Already in 2000, the University had 15 branches in all regions of Ukraine.

A special place in the University's activities was research work. The fundamental researches of the University include monuments of the history of the culture of Slavs and spiritual values ​​of Ukraine. In 2000, the Ukrainian State Slavonic Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine was founded on the basis of the Kyiv Slavic University. The University, in conjunction with the Center, has developed a project for the development of Slavic studies in Ukraine.

The Kyiv Slavic University is the founder and publisher of magazines: The Bulletin of the KSU, the University and the Kyivan Antiquities, which in 1882 was a printed organ of the Kyiv Old Community.

During all years of existence an active process of establishing contacts with foreign educational and scientific institutions is taking place. Currently among 17 foreign partner universities - educational institutions of Bulgaria, Belarus, Great Britain, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, France, Czech Republic, Sweden. In particular, the Russian State Humanitarian University, the Jagiellonian University (Krakow, Poland), the University of West Holocaust (Plzen, Czech Republic), the Minsk Institute of Economics and Management (Belarus).

The University still maintains close scientific contacts with leading universities in Europe and is a member of the European Association for International Education.

Students and teachers of the University annually, together with the Embassy of Bulgaria in Ukraine, on May 24, celebrate the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture in Ukraine at the St. Michael's Square near the monument to the holy princess Olga, Apostle Andriy Pervozvany, St. Cyril and Methodius.
